Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find the correct camshaft for my engine?

Please start with the part number on your original camshaft or in your engine parts catalog. Compare it with the replacement part number and engine application listed on the product page. Please also confirm the engine model and variant, and whether you need an intake or exhaust camshaft. If you are unsure, send us your engine details and original part number so we can review the available information with you.

What is the difference between an intake camshaft and an exhaust camshaft?

An intake camshaft controls the opening and closing of the intake valves, while an exhaust camshaft controls the exhaust valves in engines designed with separate camshafts for these functions. Please select the configuration specified for your engine. An intake camshaft and an exhaust camshaft should not be treated as interchangeable simply because they look similar.

What does “camshaft without gear” mean?

It identifies a camshaft that specifies the gear is not included as part of the described component. For example, our collection includes a camshaft without gear listed for the Komatsu S6D170 engine and WA600-1L wheel loader. Please review the individual camshaft and your existing configuration to determine which components are included and which may need to be sourced separately.

Can I use a camshaft with a different part number if the engine model is the same?

Not necessarily. Different part numbers can identify different designs, revisions, or applications, even within the same engine family. Please verify the replacement number against the engine parts catalog and the product's listed compatibility. A similar appearance or matching engine-family name alone is not sufficient to confirm interchangeability.

What should I check if my replacement camshaft does not appear to match the original?

Please stop before attempting installation and compare the part numbers, engine application, camshaft configuration, and any relevant gear or timing components. If the parts differ, please send us photos of both components, the product part number, and your engine model and serial number if available. We can review the information with you, but installation should follow the service specifications for your engine.
